Privacy Policy

What the app stores

The app may store the following information locally on your device:

• Your chosen display name, goals, experience level, equipment, and training preferences.
• Your workout schedule, reminder settings, coaching preferences, and accessibility choices.
• Generated or saved workout plans, active workout state, completion history, and streak information.
• Technical alarm identifiers and troubleshooting status needed to schedule or cancel reminders safely.

The app does not provide Earn the Silence accounts or cloud backup of your workout history. Optional Start Together sharing uses temporary participant credentials, as described below.

Camera and movement tracking

Camera tracking is optional. When you choose it, live frames are analyzed on your device to estimate body position and count air squats or push-ups. These exercise-camera frames are never saved, uploaded, or shared. The microphone is not used. Manual confirmation remains available. Choosing an existing photo or video for a workout moment is a separate, optional action.

Start Together and private workout moments

In compatible versions, you can agree to share one scheduled workout time and your Ready, First set logged, and Finished check-ins with one invited friend. Cloudflare processes this shared record using temporary participant identifiers and credential hashes. Invitation previews expose the agreed time and whether the invitation has been accepted; they do not expose check-ins or media. Your workout plan, exercise details, personal motivation, and health or safety reasons are not sent to this service.

After your own workout is saved as finished, you can select one photo or a video up to 15 seconds from your library, preview it, add an optional caption, and explicitly choose Share Privately. Selecting a file alone does not upload it. The app prepares a temporary local copy, removes photo metadata and known video location metadata, and leaves the original file unchanged. An existing video may include sound; this feature does not record camera footage or use the microphone.

Cloudflare stores the selected media privately, along with its caption, type, size, duration, and upload time. Only the two participants can open the post through their authenticated app session. Media and captions are used to provide this feature and are not sent to Firebase Analytics or advertising services. There is no public feed or public media link. Your friend may still save a screenshot or recording of what you share.

You can remove your own post for both participants, or end the shared start to revoke access to the invitation and both posts. Shared access expires 24 hours after the agreed workout time. Deletion removes captions and queues private-file erasure; temporary service failures can delay physical erasure while access remains revoked. Cloudflare infrastructure and recovery retention are separate from this application cutoff. The app shows pending sharing removal when it needs a connection to complete the request.

Notifications, alarms, and audio

With your permission, the app asks iOS to schedule workout notifications and optional accountability alarms. Coach voice clips are prerecorded files bundled with the app. Notification and AlarmKit permissions can be changed in iPhone Settings, and the in-app Health & Safety Exit remains available during accountability challenges.

Memberships and purchases

Membership purchases are processed by Apple. Earn the Silence does not receive or store your full payment-card information. The app uses RevenueCat to confirm whether an Apple subscription or introductory trial gives the app an active entitlement.

For this purpose, RevenueCat may process an automatically generated app-user identifier, Apple product identifiers, purchase and subscription status, transaction dates, storefront or country information, and limited technical information needed to operate and troubleshoot the purchase service. This purchase-service information is used for app functionality and subscription management.

RevenueCat may also process Apple's privacy-preserving AdServices attribution data, including whether an install was attributed to an Apple Ads campaign and campaign-related identifiers Apple makes available, so Earn the Silence can measure whether its own Apple Ads campaigns lead to installs, trials, or purchases. This data is used to measure our own campaign outcomes—not to track you across other companies' apps or websites, build an advertising profile, or personalize ads. The app does not request Apple's advertising identifier or App Tracking Transparency permission.

Memberships are associated with your Apple Account. You can restore purchases in the app and manage or cancel a subscription through Apple's subscription settings.

Website advertising measurement

This website uses the Google Ads tag to understand whether our ads bring visitors to the site and which pages are viewed. We use this information to measure campaign performance. The website tag does not receive workout plans, camera data, health information, app-account information, or payment details. This website does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or street address, and enhanced conversions are not enabled.

If you choose Allow measurement, the Google tag may read or write advertising-related cookies or similar browser storage and send Google information such as the page URL and title, referring page, browser and device details, IP address, timestamps, and Google ad-click identifiers contained in the URL. Google uses this information for advertising measurement, reporting, and conversion modeling. Personalized advertising is disabled for this website, and analytics-storage consent remains denied.

Before you make a choice, and if you choose Decline optional measurement, the tag operates with measurement consent denied. It does not read or write advertising-related cookies, but Google may still receive limited cookieless pings. These can include the consent state, page or referrer information, browser or device details, timestamps, and whether Google ad-click information was present. Google may use these limited signals for modeled campaign measurement.

This website stores your measurement choice in your browser so it can honor that choice on later visits. You can change it at any time using Privacy choices in the footer, or remove it by clearing this website's stored data. A changed choice applies to future measurement and does not delete information Google has already processed. Google explains its processing in the Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

App analytics and data sharing

Earn the Silence uses Google Analytics for Firebase to measure app installs, basic app operation, and the effectiveness of advertising for the app. Firebase automatically creates a pseudonymous app-instance identifier and processes app version, device and operating-system information, language, app launches and sessions, approximate region derived from a masked IP address, and Apple StoreKit purchase and subscription events. Google Analytics does not use Apple Location Services or receive precise location from Earn the Silence.

Earn the Silence does not programmatically set an Analytics user ID or custom user properties, and it logs no custom workout events. It does not send your display name, goals, motivation text, schedule, workout plans, exercises, repetitions, camera frames or landmarks, shared photos, videos, captions, participant credentials, notification or alarm identifiers, Health & Safety Exit use, or RevenueCat identifier to Firebase Analytics. Automatic screen-name reporting is disabled.

The iOS Analytics build excludes Apple's advertising identifier capability and personalized-advertising signals are disabled. Earn the Silence does not display third-party ads. The automatic first_open event may be shared with Google Ads to attribute an installation and measure the app's own campaigns. Google's privacy-preserving on-device conversion measurement library may also process temporary, de-identified app-event data for that purpose.

Earn the Silence does not sell personal information. Its optional shared-workout service is described above. Purchase information is processed by Apple, RevenueCat, and Google Analytics only as described in this policy. App Store and TestFlight services may also process installation, purchase, crash, diagnostic, or feedback information under Apple's own terms and privacy policy.

The app is built with React Native, Expo, and MediaPipe components. Their runtime functionality is packaged into the app; movement analysis remains on-device.

Retention and deletion

Delete All Local Data also attempts to end an existing shared start before erasing local app state. Keep the app installed and reconnect if sharing removal is pending. Removing the app alone cannot send a deletion request; the shared record still expires at its existing deadline. Temporary selected-file copies are cleared when discarded, replaced, or confirmed as shared during normal operation; interrupted app termination can leave copies in the operating system cache until eviction.

Local workout information remains on your device until you use Delete All Local Data & Scheduled Alerts in Safety & Accessibility or remove the app. The reset action cancels app-owned scheduled reminders and alarms before deleting local app state. It does not delete website measurement or Analytics records Google has already processed and it does not cancel an App Store subscription. Your website measurement choice remains in this browser until you change it, clear this site's stored data, or the browser removes it. Google retains measurement and Analytics data according to the applicable Google Ads and Firebase/Google Analytics settings and its legal obligations; aggregate reporting may be retained longer. Apple and RevenueCat may retain purchase and entitlement records as required to process purchases, restore access, prevent trial abuse, comply with law, and maintain financial records.

Your choices

• Camera tracking, spoken reminders, explicit coaching, and accountability alarms are off until you choose them.
• You can deny or revoke camera, notification, and alarm permissions through iPhone Settings.
• You can use manual exercise confirmation instead of camera tracking.
• Start Together and each photo or video upload require separate choices. You can complete workouts without inviting anyone or posting media.
• You can delete your own workout moment or end sharing with your invited friend from Start with a Friend.
• You can use the permanent Health & Safety Exit when continuing is unsafe.
• You can restore purchases in the app and manage or cancel a membership through Apple.
• You can allow or decline optional website advertising measurement and change that choice later through Privacy choices in the website footer.
• Personalized advertising signals are disabled, and the iOS app does not request access to Apple's advertising identifier.

Health and children

Earn the Silence is a fitness-accountability tool, not a medical device and not a substitute for professional medical advice. Stop if you experience pain, dizziness, shortness of breath, or unusual discomfort. The app is not directed to children under 13, and explicit coaching is disabled by default.

Questions and policy changes

TestFlight testers can submit privacy or support questions through TestFlight's Send Beta Feedback feature and begin the message with “Privacy Request.” App Store users can use the instructions on the Support page. Google explains its processing in the Google Privacy Policy. This policy will be updated when the app's data practices materially change.
